Tangerines in album fruit

These tangerines were for sale at the Newark, Delaware farmer's market for 5 for $1. It was the end of citrus season, and this batch wasn't looking great...there were a number of ones showing extensive bruising, and also quite a few greener tangerines thrown in the mix. However, for this price I can't complain.

I rarely buy tangerines, however...I prefer Minneola tangelos, a cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit, which is less sweet and slightly more bitter, or just plain oranges.
