Tangerine Pimento Peppers in album food

In Albums: food peppers produce

A basket of round, yellow peppers, bell-pepper shaped but rounder, with green stems

These tangerine pimento peppers were for sale at the Urban Girls Produce stand at the Clark Park Farmer's Market in West Philadelphia. They were labelled as "Tangerine Pamentos", and I have also seen this variety spelled (misspelled?) elsewhere as "Tangerine Pimientos".

The term pimento can refer to a number of different varieties of peppers, some of which are hot and some of which have no heat; they all tend to be round in shape and sweet in flavor. Tangerine pimentos are a sweet pepper, with no heat, and they are quite large for a pimento; they are a little smaller than regular bell peppers, and much rounder in shape.

I am curious to try these peppers, but I have been overflowing with new varieties of peppers and other vegetables to try lately, so I passed on these when they were for sale. Hopefully they will still be available in future weeks so I can try them.
