Red Bartlett Pear and Florida Valencia Orange in album fruit
In Albums: food fruit produce citrus pears

This photo shows a Red Bartlett pear and a Florida Valencia orange side by side on my kitchen table. I like photographing different colored fruit side-by-side as it shows a clear contrast of the colors of the different fruit.
I found this particular pear to be very shapely and attractive; it had a rich red color. The orange, on the other hand, is slightly less exciting, reflecting the fact that this photo was taken well past the peak of citrus season, even for this later-arriving orange. As expected, the pear was delicious and the orange was okay. In general, however, Valencias are one of my favorite varieties of orange; they are juicy and have a wonderful aroma.
