Turnips in album food

These large turnips were for sale at the Newark, Delaware farmer's market for 79 cents a pound. I do not frequently buy turnips, but I do enjoy them quite a bit when I do buy them. Cooked, I find them to be light and mild, among root vegetables. I also like slicing them very thinly, and eating them raw, with salt, pepper, and powdered cayenne pepper on them. It sounds strange, but it's really good.
I think that raw turnips are one of the most under-utilized vegetables; they are quite mild, milder than most radishes, which people frequently eat raw, and have a fresh taste and a pleasing, crisp and crunchy texture.
