A creek entering a stone culvert in a sunny area, with rocks and weedy plants about

This photo shows the culvert into which the west branch of the Indian creek is shunted, in Morris Park, Philadelphia. Under the recreational area of the park, this branch joins with the east branch, and the Indian creek emerges just south of Haverford avenue, soon flowing into Cobbs creek.

This photo shows black locust foliage in the foreground, which is a testimony to the disturbed nature of the area in which this photo was taken. Although much of Morris Park is forested, the area where this stream enters the culvert is quite open, showing considerable evidence of recent disturbance. Most of the trees in this area are fast-growing, early successional trees, including these black locusts, and willows closer to the water.
