A view looking through some venetian blinds, showing a grassy lawn, tree, and street

May 11th, 2006, by Alex Zorach

This is a photo of some Venetian blinds and the view seen by looking through them. This window and the blinds were in Ewing hall on the University of Delaware's campus, and the view is from the second floor, looking southward. The street in the picture is Delaware avenue.

People rarely photograph Venetian blinds or views looking through them. Yet it is a reality that a large number of people spend a great deal of their lifetimes looking at or through such blinds. These blinds are a part of the experience in our culture and I think it is important to capture them in photography.

Visible in this photo is a pin oak, the tree on the right, and an Atlast cedar, the blue-green coniferous tree on the left.
