A robin nest, with small blue eggs, showing round, neat construction of sticks, mud, and a few pieces of trash, in a cedar (juniper) bush

This photo shows the nest of an American Robin, with four eggs. The nest shows the typical construction of a robin nest, a sturdy construction, nearly perfectly round, and made out of mud and sticks. There are a few pieces of trash also mixed in with the natural nesting materials.

This nest was built in a cedar (Juniper) bush outside my apartment building in Newark, Delaware. I needed to walk very close to this nest daily while entering the building, and the 4 others in the building were also coming and going a lot as well. The bird would sometimes sound its lowest grade of alarm call when we came out, and flee the nest temporarily, but never sounded a more serious alarm and overall did not seem to mind our presence. I shot this photo with a zoom lens, without having to get any closer to the nest than I did while walking by.

A few days later, all but one of the eggs had hatched, and I took a picture of this same nest with nestlings and one egg.
