House Sparrows with Food, in Street in album birds

In Albums: birds Philadelphia

Two house sparrows on a coarse gray street, with a piece of food in between, the one an adult male showing bold black throat patch and reddish on head, the other a juvenile begging for food

This photo shows two house sparrows in the street, in West Philadelphia, with a piece of food (probably a discarded baked good of sorts) in between them.

The bird on the right looks like a Juvenile, evidenced by the thinner, softer-looking bill. Juvenile house sparrows look very similar to females. The bird on the left is an adult male. The birds were taking turns pecking at this piece of food, with the male sometimes trying to monopolize it but quickly losing interest and letting others take a turn.
