An old, beige volvo station wagon, with a boxy look, in good shape, with red hat linux and apple computer stickers on the rear window, sun reflecting off the rear window, snow on the ground, and a white house in the background

This is my old car, a beige 1985 Volvo station wagon (DL) which my friends and I affectionately referred to as "The Tank".

The car is quite old in this photo but has aged well; I drove the car for several years. My family sold the car in 2007, and in 2010, the new owner was still driving it and we'd see it parked around town.

This model of car was built to last; it was easy to drive, easy to parallel park (as in this picture, parked in Oberlin, Ohio), and got surprisingly gas mileage -- 29 miles per gallon driving 55mph on the highway, falling to 22 miles per gallon driving 70mph. The car also had ample cargo space, a convenient rack on top, and (an additional feature we added) two child seats in the back, allowing it to carry 7 people.
