This photo, taken at the Fair Food Farmstand in the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia, shows green okra on the left, and red okra on the right. Before seeing red okra right when I took this photo, I had never seen anything other than green okra before. Both of these batches of fresh okra were certified organic, and were grown by Lancaster Farm Fresh, located in Leola, PA. Both were for sale for $5.75 a pound, which is a very high price for okra. Although I like supporting organic and locally-grown produce, this is an exceptionally high price to pay, and I did not buy any, even though I was very curious about the red okra.
