Loose-leaf tea with a yellowish color, slightly twisted leaf tips covered in downy hair
Dec 14th, 2011, by Alex Zorach

This photo shows a close-up of loose-leaf tea, White Eagle Long Life from Imperial Tea Garden. I found this tea to be both fascinating and very high-quality.

Note the downy hair on the edges of the leaf...some varietals of the tea plant have hair on the tips, the young leaves just budding out. This tea is made exclusively from tips, which gives it a delicate flavor and a considerably higher caffeine content, relative to typical teas of a similar style.

This tea was produced in Hunan province of China.
