University of Delaware, Gore Hall, Viewed from Kirkbride Hall: in album Newark, DE

Apr 21st, 2006, by Alex Zorach

This photo was taken on the University of Delaware campus, from the second floor outdoor balcony of Kirkbride Lecture Hall. The photo shows a beautiful brick terrace with numerous bike racks. These bike racks are mostly empty due to the fact that this terrace is in a classroom area, not near any dorms, and the photo was taken late on a Friday afternoon.

The trees in this picture are beginning to leaf out with early spring foliage. The sky is bright but gray. I find this part of the campus very beautiful, especially when viewed from above. Gore hall was built in such a way that fits in seamlessly with the architecture of the other older buildings, like Sharp Laboratory on the left. It is fortunate, for the composition of this photo, that Kirkbride Hall is not visible, as Kirkbride is an exceedingly ugly building.
