Residence Suites, Bryn Athyn College in album Bryn Athyn

A brand-new gray building with gray roof, built an older style, surrounded by sterile, empty green lawn

This building houses the Residence Suites at Bryn Athyn College, which opened in the fall of 2010. These suites are available as housing to sophomores and juniors.

I have mixed feelings about this building. It is a relatively attractive building, with a somewhat old-fashioned style of architecture that meshes well with the other buildings built during the recent building boom on Bryn Athyn College's campus. Its landscaping, however, leads a bit to be desired. The carefully manicured lawn surrounding the building is massive (the area is much more spacious, empty even, than this photo makes one realize), and is not a good example of sustainable landscaping.

Also, in terms of the policy of housing on Bryn Athyn college and the effect it has on the campus culture, I do not like the idea of housing that is reserved specifically for sophomores and juniors. To the contrary, I support mixed housing which mixes all four class years, as I think that it helps promote unity of community, and enables people of each class to integrate better and learn from each other. Bryn Athyn college is so tiny that this is less of a problem, but I still think it exerts some effect.
