Red Onions: in album food

These red onions were for sale for 79 cents a pound at the Newark, Delaware farmer's market.
These onions are usually my onions of choice for general use. They are sweeter and milder than white onions, but still tend to be relatively strong and have a rich flavor. I also love the color they impart to food. I enjoy them both raw and cooked; I find you can get away with using slightly thicker slices of these, relative to white onions.
