Musicians at the Occupy Philly Protest: in album music

Oct 18th, 2011, by Alex Zorach

This photo shows three musicians at the Occupy Philly protest outside of city hall (the building in the background). The man in the back on the right is listening to the three musicians. There was a donation box and a sign soliciting cash donations on the ground where these musicians were playing.

I have been back to this protest at different times of day, and there is generally a fair amount of music, and sometimes, dance even. The music has always been quiet and accoustic.

Downtown Philly often has street musicians, sometimes very skilled, soliciting donations. This particular site is nothing new, not for the downtown as a whole nor for this particular location. It is not clear to me whether these musicians were specifically here for the protest, or would have been here regardless, and just came to enjoy the company and extra foot traffic generated by the occupy movement.
