Tightly rolled oolong tea leaves, with an intense green color

This photo shows a very green example of Tie Guan Yin, an oolong tea often translated as "Iron Goddess of Mercy".

Tie Guan Yin is a particular type of oolong tea which is made from a specific varietal and by a specific method. It is hugely variable, ranging from dark roasted types to the intense green types like that pictured here. I would describe this as a "Modern green style", greener even than some traditional jade oolongs, with almost no discernable roast or oxidation.

I liked this tea very much and gave it a very good rating on RateTea, just shy of a perfect score. You can buy this tea from TeaVivre. It has an intense floral aroma, like orchids.
