This is a photo of some of the mature forested areas of Rittenhouse park in Newark, Delaware. This park looks relatively small on the map, but it contains a substantial tract of intact forest.

It may be hard to discern from this photo, but a patch of mayapple is evident on the floor here. The smooth tree trunks are American beech, making up a substantial portion of the forest in this hillier section of the park.
