Field of Chickory Flowers, Woodlands Cemetery, Philadelphia:

Jun 10th, 2011, by Alex Zorach

These chickory blossoms were in bloom in this wild meadow-like area in Woodlands cemetery, Philadelphia. I was here just a few days ago, and there were no chickory blossoms visible yet!

I also took a closer photo of the chickory plant and its flowers.

There are some beehives placed at the edge of this area, so I suspect that this little miniature wildflower sanctuary functions primarily as a food source for the bees.
