East Cleveland in Winter: in album urban decay

Feb 9th, 2005, by Alex Zorach

This photo, taken close to the heart of East Cleveland, Ohio, shows the urban decay that is typical of this area. East Cleveland has held the title of the poorest suburb in the U.S.; it is an older, highly urban suburb, surrounded by Cleveland on three sides and Cleveland Heights, another old suburb, on the "hill" side.

With snow on the ground, and the middle building boarded up, this neighborhood is a bleak sight. But this area is prosperous relative to some of the smaller side streets in East Cleveland.
