A large piece of driftwood sticking out of relatively calm water, with a male mallard duck resting on it, and a canada goose swimming away in the background
Jun 6th, 2004, by Alex Zorach

This photo shows a large piece of driftwood, visibly, the intact whole base of a tree, washed up into the shallow area near the shore of Lake Erie, in Ohio. A male mallard duck is sitting on the driftwood, and in the distance, a Canada goose is swimming away.

I really like how this photo came out...there's a lightness and cheerful brightness that I rarely see in any photo I've ever taken anywhere in Northeast Ohio, a region that tends to have a rather gloomy aesthetic.
