This photo, taken from northeast Ohio, captures the essence of Lake Erie fairly well to me: the distant barge, communicating both the industrial nature of the region, and the large amount of open space, the gray and faint color of the picture, even on a partly cloudy day, and the dead weedy plants growing along the shore, capturing both a bit of nature and perhaps some of the neglect that has faced this region.
