The wall in a tea shop, with small jars of tea, and shelves with teaware, and a scale
Sep 28th, 2011, by Alex Zorach

This photo was taken in Cups & Chairs, a tea shop in Philadelphia. The wall shows a case with teapots and other teaware, and also an array of small samples in jars, with a scale below.

I think it's generally not a good idea to have these small samples of tea in glass jars out like this. Proper tea storage is in a dark location, airtight, and away from light. These jars are airtight, but they are glass and are in a brightly-lit location, allowing light to break down chemicals in the tea over time, causing it to lose flavor.

I wrote more about this shop on my blog post Cups and Chairs Tea Shop, Philadelphia.
